I am copying here the conversation so far -
Dear all,
We are tentatively thinking of doing a survey of mental health attitudes and needs in our church. I attach a first draft. As a member of our group pointed out, writing a first draft just highlights how difficult it is to be sensitive, so we really need help in making this clearer or in seeing a way forward- your advice is needed. Comments than
please!
Thanks,
Anna
Saint Mary’s Mental Health QUESTIONNAIRE
Who should answer this questionnaire?
We are hoping that all St Mary’s church members or visitors will complete this if they feel able to do so. You do not have to give your name but can if you wish.
Introduction
A team calling themselves St Mary’s Mental Health Liaison Group are keen to develop ways of supporting people who are affected by mental health issues, whether their own illness or because of a family member. The main reason for this survey is to find out what issues are out there before we work to address them. We also hope that it may help you to feel more comfortable in considering and discussing an area which many people do not feel able to talk about , which will help us to develop a language in our work which is appropriate to an inclusive church.
Your responses will only be seen my members of the group, although anonymised data may be publicly shared. If you have any questions about this or would like to discuss it further please contact Anna Martin( alm57@cam.ac.uk/01799 501927) or Marisa Baltrock (marisa.baltrock@ntlworld.com/01799 502744). If you need immediate help with a mental issue you can contact West Essex Mind on 01371 876641 (office hours), The Samaritans on 08457 90 90 90 (any time), or your G.P.
